Students of University of Sanya Won the Second Prize in the National Final of the 2020 Pan-Pearl River Delta Computer Works Competition

     From October 26 to 30, the 15th National Final of the “Pan-Pearl River Delta+”Computer Work Competition came to an end. The team formed by Liu Jingwei, Huang Siyuan, Xiang Xijing and Du Jiayi, students of the School of Information and Intelligence Engineering of University of Sanya won the national second prize for their work "automatic control tilt photogrammetric instrument".

      The competition is jointly held by the Association of Computing Education in Chinese Universities and the Organizing Committee of the "Pan-Pearl River Delta +" computer works competition. The competition has been widely recognized by education authorities, colleges and universities as well as the industry. Since its establishment in 2006, it has been successfully held for 14 consecutive times and has become an influential brand event in the computer industry in South and Southwest China.

     The theme of this competition is "gathering in the Pearl River and creating the future with wisdom". The entries involve artificial intelligence, big data, Internet of things, information and control and other computer-related fields. The competition is divided into undergraduate group and higher vocational group. 43 undergraduate groups and 42 higher vocational groups were selected from thousands of teams,participated in the finals held in Macao and Zhuhai respectively.

    The work demonstrated by School of Information and Intelligence Engineering of USY stood out with the first prize in the provincial competition, representing Hainan Province to participate in the finals in Macao. After three days of preliminary evaluation, display, defense and other aspects of the evaluation and test, finally won the second prize in the finals.

     Liu Jingwei, a member of the team, said that the device was optimized step by step under the guidance of Professor Yang Boxiong. It is worth mentioning that the shell of the work we demonstrated in the competition is also completed by 3D printing. Fortunately, all the efforts have been affirmed, the work has been recognized by the judges and teachers in the competition, it will have great practical value in the field of urban modeling and other 3D modeling.

     Students of USY were benefited from the competition as their knowledge and ability were greatly improved, and their comprehensive quality was developed in an all-round way.
