On 8th October, the 2023 Fall Opening Ceremony of Joint Educational Program between University of Sanya and Berkeley College (USA) was held in the auditorium of Shushan Hall. Ms. Che Yi, member of Joint Management Committee of the Joint Program and Vice President of Geely Talent Group, Dr. Diane Recino, President of Berkeley College sent blessings to the 2023 freshmen of the Joint Program via video. Prof. Chai Yong, heads of Academic Affairs of USY and Saxo Fintech Business School as well as faculty and other students of the Joint Program attended the ceremony.

The International Economics and Trade major (joint educational program) approved by the Ministry of Education in 2020 is jointly conducted by University of Sanya (USY) and Berkeley College (BC). The Program aims to cultivate students to systematically master the knowledge and skills concerned with international trade, logistics, and tax as well as cross-border e-commerce platform, negotiation and financial institutes. Chinese and foreign faculty participate in the teaching of the Program to build courses and talent cultivation mode with international characteristics. BC has sent six professors to deliver courses this semester and it is the first large-scale offline teaching in recent three years.

Ms. Che Vice Yi, President of Geely Talent Group, member of Joint Management Committee of the Joint Program sent blessings in the form of video and extended warm welcome and sincere thanks to the professors of BC and all presenting guests. The Joint Program between USY and BC integrates advantageous education resources of two institution and provide high-quality educational environment to cultivate more talents with international vision and cross-culture communication capability. She hopes that USY and BC will enhance further cooperation through sending BC faculty to USY for teaching and mutual visiting, and thus contributes for both institutions’ future development.

Dr. Diane Recino introduces research directions and interesting experiences of the six professors from BC and shares her own experience and understanding in her teaching and research. She encourages the students of the Joint Program to be bold in exploration and pursuit of excellence so as to reap fruits.

He hopes that the students will take advantage of this opportunity to explore the uncharted fields.
