On May 25th, University of Sanya (USY), Zhejiang Geely Farizon New Energy Commercial Vehicle Group Co. Ltd, Anyang Shunli Environmental Protection Technology Co. Ltd, Zhejiang Green Zhixing Technology Co. Ltd, unveiled the jointly established Green New Energy Methanol Hydrogen Industrial School, intending to initiate multi-level and all-round strategic cooperation in green methanol synthesis, methanol storage and transportation, methanol engine research and development and other fields. This is the second industrial school founded in three days after establishment of Geely Xingrui Data Intelligence Industrial School, and also the sixth Geely industrial school.
Zhejiang Geely Farizon Green Energy Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd focuses on the R&D, manufacturing, sales and service of new energy commercial vehicles, and is a first-level subsidiary of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co. Ltd., one of the World’s top 500 enterprises. In October 2016, the Farizon vehicle brand was officially released and became the first commercial vehicle brand to complete a multi-energy layout and new energy for its entire product range, covering the full range of commercial vehicle usage scenarios.
After the inauguration ceremony, experts from USY and enterprises held a colloquium and shared ideas and visions on talent cultivation program of new energy science and engineering of Green New Energy Methanol Hydrogen Industrial School as well as construction of USY Methanol Hydrogen Laboratory.
In recent years, based on analysis on development trend of vehicle industry and systematical summarization of the accumulation of relevant disciplines, USY decides to focus on the technology iteration and talent needs in new energy vehicle sector with Geely Holding Group and its related companies as the support as well as promote the reform and innovation of educational supply so as to cultivate high-quality applied talents required by the industry. In November 2022, Geely New Energy and Intelligent Automobile Industrial School was jointly established by USY and VIRIDI E-MOBILITY Technology (Ningbo) Co., Ltd, transforming the in-depth integration of industry and education into practical outcome of high-quality cultivation.

In addition, USY has invested 25 million in the construction of New Energy Vehicle Laboratory and Intelligent Networked Vehicle Laboratory, upgrading the traditional fuel vehicle to new energy vehicle to meet needs of training Emerging Engineering talents. At the same time, high-level talents in related fields have been introduced to set up two discipline teams in "New Energy Vehicle Technology" and "Smart Networked Vehicle Technology", focusing on new energy vehicle system integration, energy management and optimization, power system matching and control, etc. At present, the major of vehicle engineering has been approved as a first-class undergraduate major at the provincial level in Hainan Province. Meanwhile, "Exploration and Practice of Transforming and Upgrading the Major of Vehicle Engineering in Local Universities under the Background of Emerging Engineering" has been successfully established as a research and practice project of "Emerging Engineering Education" by the Ministry of Education.
